They're putting the Universal in Health Care

If the details in this story are correct, we need to rally everyone against Congressional Democrats right now. When politicians say everyone has the right to health care, they apparently mean everyone has health care.

Your freedom disappears under this bill. You will not be able to choose to not have health care as an individual, and you will not be able to choose to not provide health care as an employer.

Employers will have to pay 8% of employees' wages to government or else provide private health care. Employers will lower compensation to offset the cost of this, no doubt - either way, your paycheck will get smaller.

Individuals will be charged 2.5% of their incomes if they do not take health insurance.

The spin is that everyone will finally have the right to health care. The reality is that everyone will be losing the right to not have health care.

If this passes, we're only one step away from government-mandated doctor visits. Government will have the power to compel you to visit the doctor of its choice on its time line.

This is just disgusting, and we must stop it.

I've listed some petitions against government-run health care on my blog at http://conservativefirst.wordpress.com/2009/07/10/petitions-opposing-government-run-health-care/ .
